Description

Position Summary

The General Adoption Recruiter will connect children who are waiting for permanent homes with families who wish to adopt by implementing and coordinating effective recruitment, matching and support services. This position will submit and update child profiles to the Texas Adoption Resource Exchange (TARE) and review all inquiries that are received.

Responsibilities

  1. Support/Service Delivery
    1. Work in partnership with agency staff to register children on TARE if no family has been identified by no later than 60 days from Termination of Parental Rights. 
    2. Work with agency staff in keeping profiles and photographs updated.
    3. Coordinate, host, and facilitate selection staffing’s with DFPS, CASA, ad litem, and guardian ad litem.
      1. Provide recommended home studies to staffing participants prior to the selection staffing for review.
      2. Present recommended adoptive homes for a child/youth to all parties.
      3. Send official notification to all parties by email confirming the decision made during the staffing and approving the plan to proceed with the selected family, if one was identified.
    4. Notify DFPS when the prospective family notifies Texas Family Care Network they agree to proceed with the adoption process.
    5. Coordinate hosting and facilitating the Presentation Staffing.
    6. Follow up with the potential adoptive family regarding their decision to adopt after the Presentation Staffing has been conducted.
    7. Learn the background of the family and child/youth on each case to strategize how best to support them.
    8. Follow up on inquiries to get more information when needed.
    9. Follow up with families from any inquiries received via TARE or other means within 3 business days.
    10. Completes broadcast flyers to be sent out for recruitment.
    11. Participates in on-call rotation and duties by responding to on-call notifications and phone calls accordingly.
    12. Effectively uses Outlook Calendar as instructed by supervisor/director to reflect daily and weekly tasks
    13. Independently assess and prioritize tasks to manage time.
    14. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or director

    1. Offers new ideas and/or ways to streamline processes to better serve communities and Texas Family Care Network overall.

  7. Community Engagement

    2. Attends events to provide information to the public on TARE and becoming a foster parent.

  8. Documentation
    1. Ensures accuracy and timeliness of data entered into systems, ensure that all relevant information exists in their records (e.g. client, family, employee, billing, etc.).
    2. Completes appropriate forms and documentation concerning client contact including data entry into CoBris, IMPACT and other technology/case management systems.
    3. Checks the TARE website regularly for inquiries on children and sends attached home studies to the case management team.
    4. Track all child specific adoption inquiries on TARE and AdoptUSKids.
  9. Finance/Budget
    1. Reports expenses and provides supporting documentation. 
    2. Adheres to deadlines for expense reports.
  10. Risk Management and Safety
    1. Complies and adheres to the professional and ethical standards of conduct established by the organization.
    2. Adheres to mandated child abuse reporting laws.
    3. Assures all policies, procedures, and standards relating to child safety and well-being are followed.
    4. Follows policies and procedures relating to responding to and handling a crisis situation. 
    5. Completes online learning and policy acknowledgements by due date.
    6. Attends and participates in all required trainings.

                        Qualifications

                        1. Education/Credentials/Licensure:
                          1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field required.
                          2. Valid state driver’s license and safe driving record. 
                          3. Reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
                        2. Experience:
                          1. Requires two (2) years relevant experience in child welfare including knowledge of issues surrounding foster care, adoption, trauma, medical and developmental needs, and the importance of legal permanency are recommended as well as familiarity with state child welfare rules and procedures and the juvenile and/or probate court systems.
                          2. Expertise in providing family support/excellent customer service. 
                          3. Must have a commitment to work from a strength-based and/or youth development perspective.

                          4. CBCU Eligibility Determination 
                          5. Child Abuse Clearances 

                        Working Conditions

                        1. Physical Demands
                          1. This position requires operating a keypad device 75% of the day and electronic/office equipment 25% of the day. Frequent travel in and out of the state of Texas may be required daily along with travel by plane and may include travel in weather conditions - 50%. Fingers, thumbs, hands, wrists, elbows, legs and feet are all routinely used throughout the day. The lower and upper torso is used 75% of the day. Employee must meet minimum requirements for hearing, speech, and vision. Walking is required 50% of the day. Standing occurs 50% of the day. Sitting happens 50 % of the day. Reaching above the shoulder as well as bending and twisting are performed 25% of the day. This function routinely lifts under 25 pounds. The maximum lift is 50 pounds, 1 time per day. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.
