Position Scope:

The Safety Manager (Regional South Florida) supports the General Manager of Safety by overseeing daily safety operations, implementing safety programs, and ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements across all Stowers Machinery locations. This role works closely with branch leadership, supervisors, and employees to promote a strong safety culture, reduce workplace risks, and maintain safe working environments. The Safety Manager plays a key role in conducting training, performing inspections, investigating incidents, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that enhance overall safety performance.

Requirements:

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

  • Understanding of OSHA regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices
  • Ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations
  • Strong communication skills for training employees and working with leadership teams
  • Ability to analyze safety data and identify trends or improvement opportunities
  • Knowledge of safety documentation, reporting requirements, and compliance procedures
  • Ability to develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and training programs

Preferred Qualification(s):

  • Experience in safety management, environmental health and safety, or related roles
  • Familiarity with heavy equipment, shop environments, or industrial safety practices
  • Training or certification in safety management, OSHA, or risk control

Education Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, or a related field preferred
  • Equivalent experience in safety or risk management may be considered

Essential Job Functions:

  • Conduct regular safety inspections of shops, yards, and field operations regionally in South Florida
  • Support the development and implementation of safety programs and procedures
  • Lead or assist with incident investigations and root cause analysis
  • Maintain accurate safety records, reports, and compliance documentation
  • Deliver safety training, toolbox talks, and onboarding sessions for employees
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure company compliance with safety requirements
  • Partner with managers and supervisors to address safety concerns and corrective actions
  • Support emergency response planning and preparedness activities
  • Assist the GM of Safety with company wide safety initiatives and reporting

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • Promote a strong safety culture through communication, coaching, and visibility
  • Provide guidance to supervisors and employees on safe work practices
  • Support training and development of safety coordinators or safety focused personnel
  • Lead safety meetings and participate in cross departmental safety committees
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of safety processes and performance

Preferred Experience and Skills:

  • Experience conducting safety audits, training sessions, or incident investigations
  • Strong problem solving skills with the ability to identify hazards and recommend solutions
  • Familiarity with safety management systems or digital reporting tools
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment

Physical and Mental Requirements:

  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, or inspect equipment and facilities for extended periods
  • Ability to wear required PPE in shop, yard, and field environments
  • Ability to travel regularly to branch locations for inspections and training
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accuracy in documentation

Work Environment:

  • Work performed in both office and operational environments including shops, yards, and field locations
  • Frequent interaction with employees, supervisors, and leadership teams
  • Fast paced environment requiring adaptability and strong communication
  • Standard business hours with additional time as needed for investigations or training
  • Travel will be expected in the South Florida area
