About This Position

Job Description:

The Hospital Life Safety Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring compliance with The Joint Commission's Life Safety chapter requirements in a hospital setting. This position will work closely with hospital administrators, department managers, and staff to ensure that all life safety codes are implemented and adhered to, in accordance with The Joint Commission and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) regulations.

Responsibilities:

-Develop, implement and maintain the hospital's life safety policies and procedures

-Conduct regular life safety audits to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission's Life Safety chapter requirements and NFPA codes

-Develop and coordinate life safety training programs for hospital staff

-Collaborate with department managers to ensure proper fire safety equipment and procedures are in place

-Monitor and ensure proper maintenance of all life safety systems, including fire alarm and sprinkler systems

-Work with hospital leadership to develop and implement emergency management plans

-Serve as the primary point of contact for all life safety related inquiries

-Monitor changes to The Joint Commission and NFPA codes, and ensure that hospital policies and procedures are updated accordingly

-Serve as the liaison between the hospital and external regulatory agencies regarding life safety matters

-Conduct investigations and report on any incidents related to life safety

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in safety management, engineering, or a related field

- At least 5 years of experience in healthcare safety management or related field In-depth knowledge of The Joint Commission and NFPA codes and regulations Ability to interpret complex codes and regulations

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of stakeholders.

- Strong organizational and project management skills, Ability to lead and influence others,

- Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) or Certified Life Safety Specialist (CLSS-HC) preferred
