PBCA VPK Teacher - North Stuart at Palm Beach Christian Academy – West Palm Beach, Florida

Responsibilities

• Structure a developmentally appropriate educational experience in the classroom using methods such as storytelling, games, and activities.
• Teach students to follow rules and procedures in the classroom and school.
• Monitor students’ progress throughout the year and evaluate preparedness for the next education level.
• Communicate all progress and concerns with tact and professionalism to parents and the director.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with parents.
• Enforce safety and security standards for children, staff, and visitors.
• Maintain required paperwork for individual student files, attendance, incident reports, and other necessary records.
• Successful completion of in-service Childcare Training Credential hours will be required by the Florida Department of Children and Families (DCF) trainings.

Qualifications

• Must be a credentialed VPK Teacher.
• Experience leading a classroom and creating educational lesson plans.
• Knowledge of Florida Early Learning Standards and the ability to implement it.
• Certified or working toward certification in one of the following: Child Development Associate (CDA) credential, Early Childhood Professional Certificate (ECPC), Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC), or Florida Child Care Staff Credential Verification.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must pass drug test and DCF Clearinghouse background check.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking throughout the classroom.
• Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
• Must be able to sit and stand on the floor throughout the day, and bend, kneel, or squat to be at eye level with children.
