Job Description

Directs the care provided on the clinical nursing units to ensure safe, quality care is provided to the residents of West View Healthy Living. The Unit Manager is responsible for planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for nursing services and other departments, and for resident/family education.

The Essential duties and responsibilities described below are representative of those an employee encounters while preforming the basic functions of the position. *Evaluates residents status and unit activities at the beginning of the shift and assures appropriate levels of nursing staff are available to provide care based on acceptable standards of nursing practice.

*Plans and delegates assignments to nursing staff; delegates according to the Nurse Practice Act.

*Makes frequent rounds on assigned unit to evaluate resident status and staff performance.

*Checks for appropriate amount and condition of equipment and supplies; orders or assures ordering of supplies and equipment as necessary.

*Consults with other nurses to determine and obtain necessary human and material resources.

*Conducts unit meetings with nursing staff.

*Assures resident assessments and care plans are developed, reviewed, and revised as necessary and in compliance with regulatory and other standards.

*Facilitates interdisciplinary communication and collaboration; participates in all formal and informal plans of care meetings.

*Monitors and evaluates quality measures utilizing real time data.

Education and or experience:

Graduate of an accredited nursing program, RN diploma or Associate Degree required; BSN preferred. Nursing experience required; 2 years supervisory and/or administrative experience in skilled nursing required.
