Surgical Specialists of Charlotte is seeking a compassionate, detail-oriented Clinical Assistant to support our physicians and provide outstanding care to our patients throughout their surgical journey. This role is ideal for a skilled clinical professional who thrives in a fast-paced medical office setting, values teamwork, and is committed to delivering a high-quality patient experience.
As a Clinical Assistant, you will play an important role in both direct patient care and clinical coordination. From rooming patients and documenting clinical information to supporting post-operative follow-up and ensuring continuity of care, you will help create a smooth and supportive experience for patients and providers alike.
What You’ll Do
Welcome and escort patients to exam rooms with professionalism and compassion
Review and confirm medical history, medications, allergies, and reason for visit
Obtain and accurately document vital signs and other required clinical information in the EHR
Assist surgeons and clinical providers with patient care within scope of practice
Support office procedures, including obtaining and processing consent forms
Triage patient phone calls, document appropriately, and route concerns for provider review as needed
Coordinate follow-up care, referrals, imaging, and communication of test or diagnostic results
Conduct post-operative patient calls, address questions, and escalate concerns when appropriate
Maintain timely, accurate, and complete documentation
Follow infection control, specimen handling, HIPAA, OSHA, and other regulatory requirements
Support clinic operations and assist with front-office or scheduling workflows when needed
Float to other SSC locations as needed to support team and patient care
What We’re Looking For
Required licensure/certification:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
Experience:
3–5 years of medical assisting or relevant clinical experience preferred
Strong clinical judgment and attention to detail
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Ability to work efficiently in a busy medical office environment
A team-oriented mindset with a flexible, positive approach
Commitment to providing compassionate, high-quality surgical care
