SUMMARY OF DUTIES

Under the supervision of the Director of Properties, the Maintenance Technician primarily assists in the maintenance of all the agency properties, rentals and vehicles.

The Maintenance Technician will:

  • Perform all repairs, including light carpentry, painting, internal office moves etc.
  • May also be required to perform assigned landscaping as directed.
  • Travel to all agency properties.
  • Perform minor repairs or maintenance of agency vehicles.
  • May have to work alone, but with direction from the department’s management.
  • Lift or handle objects such as furniture, equipment, appliances on a routine basis.
  • Participate in staff meetings.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS

  • Up to and including high school. Requires enough basic education to understand and follow standard practice or oral and written instructions, able to read and write, use simple arithmetic, keep simple records, or use simple office machines. Lite Computer skills.
  • Other (Specify): Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification preferred.

EXPERIENCE

  • Over two years, up to and including four years.

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

    Mid-level experience in commercial and residential facilities repairs and maintenance procedures, as well as mid-level experience in troubleshooting commercial and residential repairs.
  • Previous experience in coordinating internal and external maintenance requests and ability to establish a priority to them.
  • Ability to clearly communicate the desired method to accomplish assigned tasks as well as how to communicate an established level of troubleshooting in the event a change of plans occur during the assigned repairs.
  • Experienced in managing maintenance and repair discussions with customers across varying levels
  • Able to provide basic direction and clarity on assigned tasks to others.
  • Able to routinely lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Able to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed

  • The nature of this position requires the incumbent to be on-call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
  • This position is subject to a criminal background investigation and continued employment is contingent on a record clear of convictions.
  • Continued employment in this position is contingent on successful completion of First Aid classes.
