This position will help coordinate and operate the Pharmacy Services purchasing department including generating purchase orders, procurement of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy equipment and supplies; maintaining regulatory record keeping and program requirements: inventory management- including 340B requirements and other federal and state programs, proper storage, security and distribution of products.
This class is distinguished from Pharmacy Department Purchasing Agent by the inclusion of purchasing and billing responsibilities for Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Nursing Units, and other Pharmacy orgs.
Function/Duties of PositionAssist Pharmacy Department across multiple orgs with purchasing of pharmaceuticals, pharmacy supplies; generating purchase orders while following buying guidelines, contract requirements and policies and procedures.
Purchasing, distribution, and invoicing of medications to OHSU non-Pharmacy sites (eg. Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Nursing Units)
Assist with other pharmacy processes including but not limited to product returns, billing discrepancies, timely invoice processing, direct purchasing records, phone inquiries, borrow/loan, CSOS record keeping requirements.
Accommodate each pharmacy equipment needs by obtaining quotes, negotiating pricing, generating
purchase orders, tracking and appropriate record keeping/Oracle processing.
Process Internal Billing System (IBS) transactions as appropriate for OHSU customers (i.e. Outpatient Clinics, Inpatient Nursing Units, and other Pharmacy orgs)
Support inventory management within inventory system while supporting optimization of purchasing practice, monitoring and managing inventory levels.
Collaborate with pharmacy services department with equipment delivery, asset tag management, decommissioning equipment, equipment repair, storage and other similar tasks or projects.
Collaborate with Pharmacy Services finance department with budgetary information; ensuring correct recording of purchasing and maintain open communication and reports that impact budget.
Manage over 300 pharmaceutical Vendor accounts and develop associated POs for the purchase of medications and pharmaceutical supplies across OHSU

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain, or a related field AND
- One (1) year of relevant experience OR
- Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Knowledge of Pharmacy Practice and USP 797 equipment needs
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Pharmacy Technician

- This position must deal with situations on a daily basis with a high degree of intensity. In addition, within the health care setting there can be lack of control of the work pace, interruptions and external factors that will dictate work load and pace.
- Physical activities- standing, walking stopping or crouching, reaching, lifting, talking and hearing
- Visual- Clarity of vision at 20 feet and 20 inches or less. Adjustment of eye to bring object into sharp focus
- Physical demands- Ability to handle 1-10 pounds by hand continuously; ability to lift case goods up to 40 lbs.
