Engineering Manager

Location: Salem, NH

Position Summary

The Engineering Manager leads and develops the engineering function to support operational excellence, quality performance, and production efficiency. This role is responsible for setting technical direction, prioritizing high-impact initiatives, and ensuring scalable, sustainable engineering solutions across the organization.

The Engineering Manager partners closely with plant leadership to align engineering strategy with business objectives, manages and mentors a team of engineers, and contributes hands-on expertise to complex technical challenges. This role balances people leadership, project ownership, and technical problem-solving to drive measurable results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic technical leadership to ensure achievement of quality, cost, delivery, and production goals.
  • Identify, prioritize, and implement high-value engineering initiatives that drive continuous improvement.
  • Partner with plant and production leadership to align engineering resources with operational priorities.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering team; foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and technical excellence.
  • Manage performance, development plans, and retention of engineering team members.
  • Ensure engineering solutions are well-documented, standardized, and scalable across operations.
  • Oversee creation and maintenance of SOPs, drawings, specifications, and critical engineering documentation.
  • Contribute directly to complex engineering problem-solving and root cause analysis as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with internal standards, quality requirements, and best engineering practices.
  • Support company-wide quality and reliability targets through robust engineering processes.
Desired Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and influence cross-functional teams toward measurable business outcomes.
  • Strong background in mechanical engineering, manufacturing processes, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Proven experience developing, documenting, and implementing SOPs and standard work.
  • Automotive or automotive remanufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Education & Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • 6+ years of industrial manufacturing experience, including prior people leadership or engineering management experience.
  • Experience managing engineering projects and driving process improvements in a production environment.
