The EBO supervisor is a working leader who helps lead EBO staff and helps ensure accurate data entry and customer-oriented service, while maintaining efficient department operations. In conjunction with the other EBO leadership, the supervisor will help coordinate processes and patient flow through registration, order entry, admission and discharge, charge posting, and collections. This individual will serve as a liaison between the nurse manager who has operational oversight of the EBO and ED clerical staff providing evaluation and performance input to the manager, help organize scheduling and daily assignments as directed and provide administrative support to the operational aspects of the departments.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Accepts responsibility for supervising and utilizing resources in a fiscally responsible and ethical manner.
- Consistently demonstrates professional behavior and exhibits strong leadership skills.
- Promotes a positive customer service attitude, which encourages quality patient care and enhances the image/reputation of the facility.
- Performs related Human Resource activities in a manner supportive to the Management Team.
- Adheres to Corporate Code of Conduct and demonstrates professional and ethical behavior at all times.
- Ensures participation in Performance Improvement activities to improve Service Line effectiveness.
Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED.
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal.
- Prior experience in customer service role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Prior experience with medical insurance including commercial and government carriers.
- Knowledge of HIPAA, Corporate Compliance, and Regulations.
- Prior hospital/Emergency Department experience.
- EPIC experience.
- Working knowledge in the areas of emergency patient registration coding, billing, and reimbursement.
