OBJECTIVE/PURPOSE:

Under the direction of the Director of Children, Youth, and Family Services (CYFS), the CYFS Clinician provides clinical outpatient therapy services to children and families, allowing easy access, timely response, and flexibility to deliver services that are located at not only at UCS Bennington and Manchester offices, but in the community as needed for a family centered approach.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

DIRECT CLINICAL SERVICES: Contributing to overall community mental health by providing assessment and counseling to children, families, and/or groups suffering from the effects of trauma, mental health and/or substance use disorder. Services will be provided in the home, school, or office as needed. Facilitates referrals and communication with CYFS and UCS services, as well as between agencies for other services on behalf of the child. Attends CYFS and other applicable UCS team meetings to plan and monitor services. Provides case management, collateral contact, and social support, as needed.

May provide Substance Use services, or within related SUD grants, the incumbent will show competencies in screening, assessment, engagement, treatment planning, collaboration, referral, HIPAA and 42 CFR Part 2, and other evidence-based counseling and professional ethics theories, in order to provide effective care. Consultation, counseling and participation as needed for clients in the annual summer camp programming and for various client centered programs.

ADMINISTRATIVE: Attends all UCS and community meetings necessary to promote coordination and communication.

CONSULTATION/EDUCATION SERVICES: Provides consultation and support to CYFS staff and other UCS staff, as needed. In addition, provides consultation and collaborative services to teachers, community partners, and school personnel, as needed. Consultation can be educational or evaluative.

CLINICAL RECORD KEEPING: Initiates and maintains compliance of timely and thorough record keeping and administrative/clinical documentation required to account for services to clients and program requirements. Such work includes, but is not limited to, client-specific assessments, case services, treatment plans, and progress notes, time sheets, schedules, and assigned periodic reports.

* In addition to the above, performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Master’s degree in a relevant human service field with experience providing counseling services to families and children. Must have an interest in providing Trauma Based Interventions. Licensure or eligible to pursue licensure in Vermont as Social Worker, Psychologist, or Mental Health Professional.

LICENSE REQUIRED:

  • Valid Driver’s License

  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
