POSITION SUMMARY:
BMG has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Controller located at our headquarters’ location in Beaverton, MI. The Corporate Controller is responsible for overseeing all accounting, financial reporting, cash management, fixed asset management, and internal control functions for a multi-plant manufacturing organization. This role ensures the accuracy and integrity of financial information, supports strategic decision-making through financial analysis and reporting, and maintains compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies. The Corporate Controller leads the accounting team, partners with operational leadership to improve performance and profitability, and actively participates in company improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on and strategic accounting leader with strong experience in manufacturing environments and multi-site operations. This individual possesses a solid understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, cost accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, internal controls, and operational financial analysis, along with advanced ERP system and Excel proficiency. Manufacturing accounting experience, including inventory and standard costing, is strongly preferred, while experience with job costing and percentage-of-completion (POC) accounting is a plus.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP, including general ledger reconciliations, intercompany eliminations, consolidations, and management reporting.
- Develop and maintain financial reports, dashboards, KPIs, forecasts, budgets, and ad hoc analyses to support executive decision-making, operational performance, and long-range planning.
- Manage the company’s cash management and treasury functions, including liquidity monitoring, cash flow forecasting, banking relationships, working capital optimization, and compliance with financing agreements and loan covenants.
- Oversee all aspects of fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, asset tracking, capital expenditure reporting, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure the integrity and accuracy of financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with applicable tax regulations, reporting requirements, record retention policies, and coordination with external auditors, regulatory agencies, and tax authorities.
- Lead process improvement initiatives, support ERP system implementations or upgrades, and analyze financial and operational processes to improve efficiency, accuracy, and reporting timeliness.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff through coaching, training, performance management, and ongoing professional development while fostering a culture of accountability, integrity, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership and operational teams to support budgeting, financial planning, risk management, strategic initiatives, and overall business performance.
- Lead or participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required; CPA or CMA preferred
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within a multi-plant manufacturing environment
- 3+ years of supervisory experience as a Controller or similar leadership role
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and manufacturing cost accounting
- Advanced ERP system experience and strong Excel skills
- Experience with consolidations and percentage-of-completion accounting is a plus
- Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under pressure
- Proven experience developing and mentoring accounting staff
- A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work in the United States on a permanent basis. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.

- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
