AHC is a non-profit affordable housing developer and service provider with offices in Baltimore, Maryland, and Arlington, Virginia. Our growing portfolio of 55 multifamily rental communities provides over 8,700 homes in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Job Summary:

This internship offers a motivated and enthusiastic individual the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the daily operations of a dynamic IT department. The IT Intern will work closely with experienced IT professionals, providing support across various technological functions. This role is ideal for a student or recent graduate looking to develop their technical skills, understand IT infrastructure, and learn about a corporate IT environment. The intern will assist with user support, system maintenance, and project-based work, gaining valuable insights into the IT field.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Support:
  • Provide first-level technical support to end-users for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving IT support tickets in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Help with the setup, configuration, and deployment of new computers, peripherals, and software.
  • Assist with user account management (e.g., password resets, account creation).
System & Network Assistance:
  • Support the IT team in maintaining and monitoring IT systems and applications.
  • Help document IT procedures, configurations, and assets.
Project Support:
  • Participate in IT projects as assigned, which may include research, testing, or implementation tasks.
  • Collaborate with team members on project deliverables and timelines.
  • Assist with tasks related to migration to AHCommunites.org domain
    • Update shared mailboxes, distribution lists and SSO applications
Learning & Development:
  • Actively engage in learning new technologies and IT best practices.
  • Seek guidance and mentorship from IT staff.
  • Contribute ideas and perspectives to improve IT processes and services.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, operating systems (e.g., Windows, macOS, Linux), and networking concepts.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite or similar productivity tools.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-service orientation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and a proactive attitude.
  • Prior IT support experience or relevant coursework is a plus.
