Main Duties and Responsibilities
The Material Handler serves as the primary material movement resource within the facility, responsible for ensuring the efficient and continuous flow of materials across warehouse and production areas. This role is critical to maintaining production uptime by delivering the right materials to the right place at the right time.
The Material Handler acts as a key liaison between Production, Logistics, and Inventory teams, ensuring alignment on material availability, movement priorities, and workflow execution. The role is highly focused on material transport, Kanban replenishment, and production support, with packaging and shipping activities as secondary responsibilities when required. The Material Handler will also utilize systems such as Tulip software / SAP to support material tracking, workflow execution, and operational visibility.
Material Movement and Production Support (Primary Responsibility)
- Move raw materials, components, and finished goods throughout the facility to support production flow.
- Activities associated with Freight Packing, to include crating and packaging.
- Ensure timely delivery of materials to production work cells based on schedule and demand.
- Execute Kanban replenishment activities to maintain continuous production operations and prevent shortages.
- Perform frequent plant walks to monitor material levels, identify shortages, and proactively replenish inventory.
- Transport WIP (work-in-process) between operations to maintain workflow continuity.
- Support production teams by responding to real-time material requests and priority changes.
- Maintain organization and proper staging of materials in both warehouse and production areas.
- Utilize Tulip software for material tracking, workflow execution, and data entry.
Inventory and Warehouse Support
- Maintain stock levels in the raw materials room through routine replenishment and monitoring.
- Assist with part pulling and staging based on production requirements.
- Collaborate with Inventory on cycle counts and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Support material organization and layout improvements within warehouse and production areas.
Shipping and Receiving Support (Secondary Responsibility)
- Stage finished goods and materials for outbound shipment.
- Assist with picking and preparing orders for shipment when required.
- Break down and organize inbound shipments, including Germany collectives.
- Move incoming materials to appropriate storage or production locations.
- Support inspection and processing of incoming materials.
Backup Coordination
- Perform the duties, as directed by the Distribution Manager
Safety Responsibilities
- Operate safely while performing material movement throughout the warehouse and production areas, including proper use of forklifts and material handling equipment.
- Adhere to all Bender Inc. safety policies, procedures, and applicable customer safety requirements.
- Proactively identify and report safety hazards, risks, or violations during daily material movement and plant activities.
- Support a safe and efficient work environment by maintaining clear aisles, proper material staging, and organized storage areas.
- Reinforce safe behaviors and practices while working across departments and interacting with production teams.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and contribute to accident prevention and loss control efforts.
- Promptly complete and support all safety-related actions, including corrective measures and follow-ups.

Educational and Experience Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2+ years of experience in a warehouse, logistics, or material handling role preferred
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or ERP software is a plus
- Forklift certification or willingness to become certified preferred
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively across departments
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with inventory systems, email, and spreadsheets.

Physical Demands
- Frequently required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Use of hands and arms for packaging and handling materials.
- Ability to operate forklifts and other warehouse equipment (training provided).
Work Environment
- Work performed primarily in a warehouse/production environment.
- May be exposed to varying temperatures, noise levels, and industrial equipment.
- Appropriate PPE must be worn at all times (provided by the company).
