Job Overview

Agape Construction Company is hiring Journeyman-Level Framing Carpenters to support our growing Field Operations team. This role focuses on high-quality rough carpentry work for residential additions and remodeling projects. Working under the direction of the Lead Carpenter, the Journeyman Framing Carpenter performs framing and demolition work efficiently, safely, and with exceptional craftsmanship. This position also requires the ability to step into a leadership role temporarily when the Lead Carpenter is offsite.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Perform rough residential carpentry work with minimal supervision

  • Read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and change orders

  • Complete material takeoffs and assist with planning and layout

  • Layout and frame walls, floor systems, roof systems, and rafters

  • Layout and install stairs, including calculating rough stringers to code

  • Build decks, porches, and install exterior trim and siding

  • Perform demolition work, including lead testing and abatement when required

  • Read truss packages, set trusses and use framing squares and tools to construct stick-built roof systems

  • Be prepared to temporarily take over Lead Carpenter responsibilities when needed

  • Identify discrepancies or special conditions and communicate them to the Lead Carpenter

  • Assist with training apprentices and new team members

  • Accurately record time daily using the company timekeeping system

  • Follow all company policies and procedures outlined in the Agape Handbook

  • Adhere to Agape safety policies, attend safety trainings, and report incidents immediately

Qualifications
  • 5+ years of residential remodeling or framing experience preferred (minimum 4 years required)

  • Strong understanding of blueprint reading and structural framing codes

  • Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems

  • Experience working alongside and coordinating with other trades

  • Ability to work independently while supporting crew leadership

  • Strong communication skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude

  • Physically capable of performing demanding carpentry work, including lifting up to 75 lbs., climbing ladders/scaffolding, and working at heights

  • Reliable transportation, valid drivers license, and consistent attendance

  • Ability to maintain a clean, professional appearance while wearing company-issued clothing

  • A background check will be completed as part of the onboarding process, in compliance with applicable law

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED preferred
