About This Position
· Lead and coordinate the month-end close process for multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
· Analyze historical client and operational financial data to identify trends, discrepancies, margin impacts, and reporting gaps.
· Develop and maintain custom financial reports, dashboards, and templates to support decision-making across departments.
· Investigate variances and anomalies independently, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
· Maintain and strengthen internal controls and data integrity within ERP systems (Tharstern, Business Central).
· Identify, troubleshoot, document, and resolve ERP and reporting issues in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
· Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling initiatives with meaningful analytical insight.
· Oversee fixed assets, depreciation, prepaids, intercompany transactions, and other balance sheet reconciliations.
· Prepare ad hoc analysis for management to support operational and strategic decisions.
· Serve as a resource to internal teams by providing financial clarity and guidance on reporting and data questions.
· Act as backup support for payroll review and selected accounting functions as required.
· Continuously identify process improvement opportunities that enhance reporting accuracy, efficiency, and financial transparency.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, financial standards, and occupational health and safety requirements.
Qualifications and Skills:
· Minimum of 8 years of experience in an accounting role, with a passion for full-cycle accounting
· University degree or college certificate in accounting
· CPA designation considered an asset
· Knowledge of current Canadian accounting rules, practices, tax laws, and reporting requirements (ASPE)
· Strong fundamental math skills
· Excellent problem-solving skills and self-motivation
· Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills (xlookup, custom table creation, index/match function)
· Strong time management and organizational abilities
· Demonstrated accuracy in calculating, posting, correcting, and managing accounting figures and financial records
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
