SUMMARY:
Allendale Charter Township is hiring a seasonal Assistant Operator for our Public Utilities department to assist with routine maintenance to the water distribution system. This position will report to the Public Utilities Water and Wastewater Supervisors and will work approximately 40 hours per week for up to six months. This position does not offer benefits due to its seasonal designation. The wage range for this position starts at $18.45 per hour.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ability to speak clearly and communicate effectively on the telephone and in public.
- Flush hydrants.
- Exercise mainline valves, hydrant valves and hydrants.
- Assist with special projects as requested.

REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Previous work experience in a similar position is beneficial; however, no public experience or training is required.
- Attention to detail, self-motivation, logic, intuition, analysis, and judgement.
- Computer knowledge is beneficial.
- Knowledge of maps and blueprints is beneficial.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
General working conditions are outside. Employee must be willing to work in all weather conditions, to include adverse weather conditions.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to operate equipment involved in the maintenance of the facility.
- Ability to lift and carry 50Ibs.
- Ability and working knowledge of how to use hand tools
