About This Position
The University of Pittsburgh is soliciting applications for the position of Research Assistant Professor to carry out duties related to the simulation infrastructure of the ATLAS experiment at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland. These include development and coordination at the international level of the Geant4-based simulation infrastructure running within the Athena framework, the fullSimLight standalone Geant4-based simulation utility, and the GeoModel toolkit for the software description of particle detectors. The candidate is expected to engage in planning for deployment of these tools in view of software releases, Monte Carlo campaigns, and data taking runs of the detector. Additionally, the candidate will engage with U.S. ATLAS program office and management team to insure the continuation of the University of Pittsburgh's participation in software development and support on behalf of the ATLAS experiment at CERN. This position is based at the CERN site. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in physics, a strong computational background, and exceptional experience with simulation infrastructures in particle physics at the LHC.
