Tax Manager - Financial Services - Charlotte, NC
Who: A tax professional with 5+ years of recent public accounting experience and strong corporate/ASC 740 expertise.
What: Manage complex tax compliance and consulting engagements for financial institutions while leading a team and delivering high-quality technical reviews.

Position Overview:
The Tax Manager in the Financial Services Practice oversees tax compliance and consulting work for financial institutions and related service companies. This role includes technical review of tax research, workpapers, allocations, and tax returns, as well as income tax accounting support. Responsibilities also include team development, engagement management, and supporting business development efforts across the practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong customer relationships within the financial services market.
- Perform technical reviews of federal and state tax workpapers, research, allocations, and tax returns.
- Review and assist with income tax accounting and ASC 740 reporting.
- Anticipate client needs and consult on emerging and complex tax issues.
- Communicate engagement progress, challenges, and resolutions clearly to customers.
- Collaborate across teams to expand services and support overall firm growth.
- Manage engagement economics, including billing and collections.
- Continuously develop professional expertise and specialty knowledge.
- Coach and develop team members, providing guidance and year-round performance feedback.
- Build a professional network through colleagues, referral partners, prospects, and community involvement.
- Represent the firm in the business community and within professional organizations.
- Promote a culture of accountability, inclusion, engagement, and alignment with firm values.
- Set and achieve meaningful stretch goals to increase impact within the firm.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Law; Master’s in Tax/LLM preferred.
- 5+ years of recent public accounting experience.
- Strong background in corporate tax accounting; ASC 740 expertise preferred.
- EA license or CPA certification required.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and networking capabilities.
- Ability to manage and grow client relationships.
- Experience with tax software and technology tools.
- Strong multitasking ability and commitment to continuous learning.
