JOB DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Database Administrator
Employment Classification: Full Time; Hourly, Non-Exempt
Shift: M-F: 8:30 AM- 5:00PM
Reports to: Assistant Director of Data and Evaluation
Department: Compliance and Quality Assurance
Position Summary: Working in partnership with the Assistant Director, you will oversee the full lifecycle of the Apricot database, from defining its structure and maintaining technical documentation to developing sophisticated data visualizations. Ultimately, you will turn raw data into a clear narrative of organizational impact.
Requirements:Major Areas of Responsibility:
- System Administration & Training: Lead the training for program staff on all database tasks and maintain a comprehensive, user-friendly database manual.
- Strategic Collaboration: Partner with program teams to design and implement data entry strategies for new and existing projects.
- Grant & Contract Reporting: Develop, validate, and manage a library of report templates to ensure 100% compliance with grant and contract requirements.
- Business Intelligence: Consult with internal stakeholders to build and maintain high-level dashboards, focusing on performance, operational, and executive-level insights.
- Technical Integration: Manage existing APIs and collaborate with vendors to develop new integrations that facilitate seamless data transfer across platforms.
- Community Engagement: Represent the organization at local HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) Technical Meetings and other community forums.
- Additional duties as assigned by direct supervisor.
Knowledge, Skill, and Experience Requirements:
- Database Management: 3–5 years of experience (specific experience with Apricot or ETO is highly preferred).
- Data Analysis: 3–5 years of advanced Microsoft Excel experience required.
- Querying & Visualization: 1–3 years of proficiency in SQL or Amazon QuickSight required.
- Power Bi Tools: 1–2 years of experience with Microsoft Power BI preferred.
- API Management: 1–2 years of experience developing and maintaining connections between cloud-based databases is a plus.
- Ability to work from the Orangewood Foundation daily during core working hours.
- Possess a valid California driver’s license and proof of automobile insurance. Position requires DMV clearance.
- Pre-employment screenings include criminal background check, FBI/DOJ fingerprinting, TB test, drug screen, and previous employment verification.

Core Competencies
- Certifications: Apricot Administrator Certification is a significant plus.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and consult across diverse program teams
- Communication: Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data into "plain English" for non-technical stakeholders.
- Professionalism: Comfortable and confident representing the organization in community and partner settings.

- Enjoys working directly with youth, volunteers, community partners, etc.
- Passion for and enjoys working directly with TAY population.
Working Environment/Physical Requirements:
- Position may require use of personal vehicle. Physical requirements include standing, sitting, typing, bending and lifting up to approximately 15 lbs. (i.e. tables, chairs, food, water, etc.)
- Modification to work schedule may be made based on needs of the Foundation.
