Salary: 85k-90k

Job Summary:

Kneads Bakeshop is expanding and preparing to open a new location in Logan Circle, Washington, DC. We are seeking an experienced Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations for this new location. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in a fast-paced bakery environment, with a strong background in menu development and research and development across bakery, catering, and restaurant offerings. This role requires SERV Safe certification and proven experience leading and developing kitchen teams while maintaining high standards of quality and consistency.

Role & Responsibilities

• Collaborate management in menu planning, recipe development, and execution of culinary vision.

• Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, presentation, and consistency.

• Assist in recruiting, training, and supervising kitchen staff, fostering a culture of growth and development.

• Maintain inventory levels, manage food costs, and ensure adherence to budgetary guidelines.

• Uphold strict sanitation and safety standards in compliance with health regulations.

• Lead by example, demonstrating professionalism, creativity, and a strong work ethic at all times.

• Provide guidance and support to kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and open communication.

• Assist in creating and implementing innovative seasonal menus and special event offerings.

• Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless coordination and execution of culinary initiatives.

• Stay abreast of industry trends, techniques, and best practices, continually seeking opportunities for improvement.

Requirements & Physical Demands

• Proven experience as Executive Chef or similar role in a high-volume, upscale dining establishment.

• Culinary degree or equivalent culinary education preferred.

• Strong leadership abilities with the ability to motivate and inspire a diverse team.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels.

• Solid understanding of kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking techniques, and kitchen equipment.

• Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations, with a commitment to upholding the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
