About This Position

Description:

Systems for Public Safety, Inc. (SPS) is a Ford QVM automotive "up-fitter" and maintenance facility dedicated to serving police and fire fleets. We upfit vehicles for cities and counties all over Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska.

We are looking for an experienced general mechanic with diagnostic/electrical skills (to include OBD1/OBD2/CAN diagnostic tools) and a desire for a new challenge to join our team!

Job entails vehicle maintenance including repairs, brakes, tires, suspension and technical systems on all makes/models of police fleet vehicles/fire trucks, command rigs and occasionally ambulances.

12V Electrical experience is a plus as all vehicles will have aftermarket equipment/ lighting installed. Mechanics do light repair work for emergency lighting such as light head replacement, speaker replacement, post collision replacement to push bumpers and equipment removal.

**Quarterly and Annual Bonus (performance-based program) $500-$2,000 per quarter**

Requirements:

Job requirements:

  • Must be proficient in Mitchell/Alldata online diagnostic.
  • Must have own tools
  • ASE certification preferred
  • EVT certification will be required within 12 months of hire (we will help with prep)
  • Must be detail oriented with strong work ethic
  • Must be able to read manufacturer's drawings and manuals
  • Must have basic computer and internet literacy
  • Operate a variety of hand, power, and shop tools
  • Keep shop equipment operating (maintain, troubleshoot, repair, etc.)
  • Drive manual transmission vehicles
  • Use computer diagnostic equipment
  • Must have valid driver’s license
  • Pre employment drug screening and background check required by contractual obligation; services provided by SPS. Not an automatic disqualification.
  • Monday- Thursday shift 6am-4:30pm
