About This Position

WHAT WE DO:

Calidi Biotherapeutics is a clinical-stage immuno-oncology company with proprietary technology that is revolutionizing the utilization of oncolytic viruses through an allogeneic cell-based delivery system. Calidi Biotherapeutics is advancing this potent stem cell and oncolytic virus combination for use in multiple difficult-to-treat oncology indications. Our team is also developing a universal cell delivery system to protect, amplify and potentiate oncolytic viruses currently in development.

GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB:

The IN VITRO Research Associate, performs research and/or development in collaboration with others for projects. Makes detailed observations, analyzes data and interprets results. Investigares, creates and develops new methods and technologies for prohect advancement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Generate immunophenotyping and immune cell functional data using various techniques, including but not limited to multicolor flow cytometry, ELISA, and xCELLigence RTCA.
  • Isolate protein, DNA, and RNA from cell cultures and tissues, and perform gene/protein analysis using qPCR and Western blot.
  • Maintain primary and established cell lines to support in vivo studies.
  • Assist with general cell culture for the production of oncolytic viruses, including herpes simplex virus, vaccinia virus, and/or adenovirus.
  • Generate new therapeutic recombinant viruses.
  • Analyzes and organizes data with strong attention to detail.
  • Assists with various laboratory maintenance and cleaning tasks.
  • Adheres to good health and safety practices and compliance with applicable EH&S rules and participating in mandatory safety training programs.
  • Follow SOPs to ensure study integrity and quality.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • B.S. or higher in life science, or related field
  • 2+ years of experience in a biotechnology company with broad knowledge and experience in cell and molecular biology methods; Immuno-Oncology field is preferred.
  • Strong hands-on experience in acquiring and analyzing flow cytometry data (multi-parameter flow cytometry, intracellular, extracellular staining, flowjo analysis) is required.
  • Experience with mamallan cell culture is required.
  • Experience in immune cell based assay (ELISA, MSD, cytotoxicity assays) is highly desirable.
  • Experience in a range of in vitro cellular/molelecular biology techniques (cell culture, cloning, qPCR, Western blot, immunohistochemistry, microscopy) is preferred.
  • Excellent data organization, analysis, and troubleshooting skills using electronic lab notebook.
  • Dedication to working in a team-oriented environment to contribute to shared project.
  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel, Graphad Prism, Flowjo.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as calculation of dilutions and statistical analyses.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to effectively communicate with other research teams
  • Ability to read and understand technical procedures
  • Ability to write protocols and reports
  • Ability to effectively present data and respond to questions from co-workers
