About This Position
Coordinates and performs work activities related to the continued development and implementation of regulatory programs to carry out the mission of the Edwards Aquifer Authority.
Responsible for a wide variety of activities including coordinating and/or performing work activities related to regulatory programs. Develops forms and guidelines. Reviews applications and correspondence. Develops reports and correspondence regarding protection of the Edwards Aquifer. Assisting with the development of regulatory programs. Contributes to the operation and maintenance of associated data files in the electronic data base system. Works with consultants, contractors, and other entities concerning assigned programs and analyzing procedures to monitor and measure progress made on programs. Interfaces with other agencies on program matters. Assists in the preparation of materials for committee and board meetings and assists in the development of conferences, workshops, and meetings regarding assigned programs. Providing general and technical information to the public as requested. Works under general supervision. Work is occasionally directed in several aspects and is moderately independent referring to policies, practices, processes, and procedures. Exercises discretion and independent judgment in significant matters. Refers more complex matters to the supervisor. Works collaboratively with others. Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Bachelor’s degree in environmental science, geology, hydrology, civil engineering, or closely related field plus minimum of three years of relevant experience or master’s degree plus one year of relevant experience Experience with personal computers, word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications. Strong research, analytical, technical, problem solving and investigative skills. Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Effective oral, written, and organizational skills. Ability to exercise initiative, independent judgment, and responsibility. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Job performance may require listening, seeing, sitting, talking, reaching, pulling or pushing; frequent lifting, balancing, carrying, grasping, handling of items and equipment weighting up to 50 pounds; occasional standing, stooping, bending, crawling and moderate to heavy walking in rough terrain requiring a high level of physical exertion; some irregular hours and long workdays and moderate levels of stress. Job may consist of up to 50% work in an office environment and 50% work outside that includes exposure to extremes in weather, rough terrain such as brush, rocks, and hills, and may also include exposure to hazards such as chemicals, insects, and snakes. Performance may also include work around construction sites, work along roadways, well drilling or other similar work sites.
