Mechanical Design Engineer - Contract at World Centric – Atlanta, Georgia

Location: Stone Mountain, GA.

Rate: Hourly/Daily TBD

Timeframe: Can work full or part-time. It's expected that a prototype can be completed in 4-6 weeks at full time.

World Centric is a leader in providing innovative compostable packaging solutions for the food service industry. We seek a skilled and experienced product design engineering contractor for a product design project. The contract term is estimated at 1-2 months but may be extended based on project needs. The role will perform project work onsite in Stone Mountain, GA (greater Atlanta metro area) for practical purposes.

Initial Project Scope:

• Specific design and prototype project for sustainable consumer packaging devices including detailed sub-assemblies.
• Perform hands-on rapid prototyping using a variety of tools including 3D printing and other CNC fabrication tools.
• Use Solidworks to create 3D models and drawings.
• Create detailed design models and documentation for the transition from prototype to production.
• Generate documentation of all concept development and perform regular design reviews with the project team.

Necessary Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
• Expert in Solidworks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
• Experience reviewing patents and writing patent applications.
• Minimum 10 years leading design and development of consumer products and mechanical systems.
• Ability to use basic hand tools and prototyping methods
