Powers Health is hiring a Cashier!

Work Location: Position is located at Community Hospital, Munster, Indiana.

Job Description:

Requests and collects payment of charges for services from the patient/guarantor at the time of service or discharge. Processes patient inquires at the Cashier window in regards to discharges, insurance and payments.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year medical office or customer service experience required.
• Knowledge of insurance benefits; experience with insurance benefit verification and/or pre-certification preferred.
• Prior experience with cash collections, balancing of cash drawers and preparation of bank deposits preferred.
• Ability to discuss financial matters with patients.
• Must be able to pass calculator and mathematical test.
• Basic level of proficiency with MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Must be proficient with a 10 key calculation, detail oriented with a good numeric aptitude and typing skills of 35 wpm with accuracy required.
• Excellent problem-solving, organizational and analytical skills. Strong written/verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and multi-task while working in a collaborative, team environment with a positive attitude. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and work under deadlines.
