CPLC manages the Hummingbird Project for unaccompanied minors in need of culturally competent, whole wellness care. CPLC brings 53 years of demonstrated quality experience serving the community as a high trust organization. Each minor in our care is case-managed, educated and receives healthcare and legal services in a trauma-informed system. POSITION SUMMARY
The Medical Assistant is responsible for assessing, facilitating, and monitoring all components of client medical services. Additional responsibilities include ensuring compliance with regulations in policy development and implementation according to State Licensing and ORR (Office of Refugee Resettlement), as well as on-going program refinement based on advances in the program.

The Medical Assistant demonstrates cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of a diverse Unaccompanied Minors population. This position is bilingual Spanish/English and will read, analyze, and interpret common medical reports and legal documents.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education/Background

  • Medical Assistant Certification required.
  • High School Diploma/GED and
    • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA); Certified Nursing Assistant (CAN); Certified Medical Office (CMO); or related medical field certification (e.g., phlebotomy, pharmacy etc..), WITH 1 (one) to 2 (two) years of experience in a health care setting with pediatric/adolescence population preferred.
  • OR Associate/bachelor's degree in any related health - Minimum 1 year of full-time experience in a hospital, clinic, medical record department or physician’s office. (Including any volunteer or internship experience)

Other Requirements

  • Bilingual Spanish/English required.
  • Driver's License in good standing meeting company policy for insurability required.
  • Cleared Tuberculosis test results.
  • Immunization documentation: Tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis (Td/Tdap), Varicella, Measles, mumps, rubella (MMR), Hepatitis A and B and COVID-19
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Cleared drug test results
  • Comply with annual training requirements/licensure/certifications.
