  • Education and Experience
    • ASSOCIATE DEGREE AND/OR DIPLOMA FROM RESPIRATORY THERAPY PROGRAM ACCREDITED BY JRCRTE
    • Passed registry exam. One year experience in Respiratory Care preferred.
  • Environmental / Working Conditions
    • Occupational exposure of high risk for blood borne pathogens
    • Hours of duty may be irregular to accommodate department and patient requirements
  • Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships
    • EFFECTIVE AND PLEASANT COMMUNICATION WITH MEDICAL STAFF, NURSING, ANCILLARY DEPARTMENTS, AND DEPARTMENT STAFF TO ASSURE TEAMWORK APPROACH TOWARD PATIENT CARE
  • Job Description
    • Under general supervision of Lead Therapist of his/her shift or Lead/Management on duty. Required upon request of physician, sets up and operates various types of respiratory care equipment and performs procedures to be utilized in routine and complex treatment of respiratory diseases in compliance with policy and procedure. Maintains proficiency in all general activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Required Licensures / Certifications / Registrations
    • RRT credential, licensed by the Texas Department of Health-Respiratory Care, and CPR
  • Physical Capabilities
    • Work is of medium demand, walking and standing a great deal of the time
    • Frequent bending over a patient in bed for several minutes at a time
    • Frequent lifting of equipment is required
    • May occasionally be asked to move objects weighing over fifty pounds
    • Near visual acuity required
    • All of these duties must be performed during the course of a normal business day
  • Skills and Abilities
    • Must be able to communicate effectively verbally and in written form
    • FINE MOTOR SKILLS ARE ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM PROCEDURES AND MANAGE EQUIPMENT
