Medical Assistant PRN at University Health System- San Antonio – San Antonio, Texas

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides direct and indirect patient care activities and performs clerical duties under direct supervision of a licensed nurse or physician/extenders on duty. Ensures that established security requirements are maintained (as defined by the Bexar County Adult Detention Center and Central Magistrate’s Office). Supports and adheres to University Health (UH) and Detention Health Care Services (DHCS) policies and procedures. Demonstrates behaviors consistent with UH mission, vision and values. Promotes excellent internal and external customer relations.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or GED is required. A Medical Assistant diploma from an accredited school or certification from an approved credentialing body for medical assistants is required. National certification as a registered Medical Assistant is preferred. Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Card. One year of experience in a clinic, physician's office, or ambulatory care setting is preferred.

LICENSURE
Must have a current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider or AHA BLS Instructor Provider card.
