POSITION SUMMARY: The Microbiology Section Supervisor performs and evaluates microbiological testing on patient specimens to provide accurate and timely data for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of infectious diseases. This role provides direct supervision and technical oversight of the Microbiology section and reports to the Laboratory Operations Manager, Laboratory Administrative Director and Laboratory Medical Director.

The Microbiology Section Supervisor is responsible for the validation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of microbiology instruments and methodologies, including culture-based testing, organism identification, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and molecular or rapid diagnostic platforms as applicable. The supervisor interprets patient and diagnostic data to ensure the accuracy, clinical relevance, and quality of testing results. This position maintains documentation to support regulatory compliance, accreditation, and certification requirements for the Microbiology section.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Laboratory Services or a related field.
  • Related fields include: chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology.
• A minimum of four (4) years of Clinical Laboratory experience
  • Experience must include high complexity testing to qualify as a CLIA General Supervisor.
• Current Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or Medical Lab Technologist (MT) through ASCP
