Housekeeper at The Surry Seafood Company – Smithfield, Virginia

Activities & Responsibilities

• Wash, dry, and fold all hotel linens
• Make beds
• Replenish guest room supplies, to include clean towels and washcloths
• Clean rooms, hallways, lobbies, common areas, restrooms, elevator, stairways, and exterior bathrooms
• Clean rugs, carpets, upholstered furniture, and draperies using vacuum cleaner
• Dust furniture and fixtures
• Disinfect and deodorize in-room refrigerator and microwave
• Return dirty room service dishes and trays to restaurant
• Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork as needed
• Wash windows, door panels, and sills
• Empty wastebaskets
• Transport trash and waste to trash area behind restaurant
• Replenish bathroom supplies
• Deliver special order items to guest rooms, such as food, wine, or flowers
• Replace light bulbs as needed
• Report any damages or maintenance issues to front desk immediately
• Report guests’ items left behind and turn in to front desk immediately
• Abide by the regulations set forth by the material safety data sheets when using chemicals
• Report to work for scheduled shift on time and in uniform, in accordance with company policy
• Know and comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to this position and its duties
• Take the initiative to greet guests in a friendly and warm manner
• Perform other related duties as required or requested by the GM or front desk

Minimum Qualifications

• Reliable transportation to and from work
• Able to work shifts on weekends and holidays
• Able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 5 hours)
• Able to lift, reach, bend, and stoop
• Able to safely lift and carry up two flights of stairs full laundry baskets and boxes of supplies, weighing up to 20 pounds
• Hotel experience preferred
