We are currently seeking a Corrosion Technician for our Hebron, OH Service Center. This non-exempt position is responsible for all activities related to corrosion control (external, internal, and pipeline integrity, including design, installation, operation, and maintenance of cathodic protection facilities) utilizing corrosion skills and aptitude.


Nature and Scope of Position (Essential Duties and Responsibilities):

Support and incorporate the Cooperative’s Mission, Vision and Values in professional behavior and decisions. Comply with all Cooperative policies, procedures, goals and objectives and meet attendance and punctuality guidelines.Understand, observe and enforce cooperative safety and security procedures and report potentially unsafe conditions to department supervisor and/or safety department personnel. Test, monitor, and maintain cathodic protection on company pipelines and facilities per USDOT and PUCO regulations.Monitor pipelines and facilities for internal and atmospheric corrosion. Perform required remediation on Cooperative facilities and oversee remediation when performed by company or contract crews.Repair, install, troubleshoot, and perform other predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on cathodic protection systems and associated equipment and devices (rectifiers, test stations, ground beds, critical bonds, foreign line crossings, cased crossing, surveys, etc.).Monitor electrical isolation of facilities and take corrective action as needed.Support management, co-workers, vendors, and contractors in all aspects of corrosion control activities related to Cooperative facilities.
    Maintain required documentation and paperwork for USDOT compliance and company records.
Perform related work as required and other such duties as may be assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactory.     Education and Experience: High school diploma required. 5 or more years’ experience in corrosion control for a natural gas utility, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training. NACE CP 1 Certification preferred. Previous knowledge of electronic controls, telemetry, business management, and Microsoft Office products a plus.
Certificates, Licenses, and Training: This position provides the use of a company vehicle therefore an individual must have a valid State of Ohio driver’s license along with a good driving record. Attend seminars, short courses, and participate in industry trade associations when requested. Language Skills: Possess strong oral and written communication skills and effectively communicate information to supervisors and field personnel, as needed. Develop and interpret a variety of business materials to both internal and external sources. Other Skills and Abilities: Logically troubleshoot problems with equipment and systems, not limited to pipeline corrosion, and provide economic solutions. Accept responsibility for direction, control, or planning of an activity and perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature, without loss of efficiency or composure. Makes successful generalizations, evaluations, or decisions based on sensory or judgmental criteria. Performs well under stress, when confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual situations, or in situations in which working speed or sustained attention are critical aspects of the job.

Physical Demands and Work Environment: The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Majority of work is performed outside and requires travel to and from work sites and therefore must have the ability to work in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain. Ability to work in a climate-controlled environment with minimal noise and temperature changes. While performing work an individual must have sufficient strength to engage in manual labor encountered in the work area. Safe work practices must be understood and utilized at all times. The position requires an individual to undergo extensive driving, walking, lifting and/or bending. Must be available to work during non-working hours which may include weekends and holidays. This position is subject to pre-employment physical and substance abuse testing and is subject to random testing in accordance with the Cooperative’s substance abuse policy.
