About This Position
The server is a high-energy and self-motivated individual who works well in a team environment and has a desire to learn new skills and grow. This position requires both discretion and candor, exercising good judgement when communicating with others, including employees. As a server in the Black Prong Whiskey Bar & Grill, you’ll be an important part of our customer service team.
Working with our executive chef to ensure our customers start their day off right, you’ll greet customers with a smile when they walk up to the cafe and help with anything they need. This may be starting them out with a hot cup of coffee or answering questions about our delicious menu items. This role is ideal for friendly, personable workers with a passion for quality food and a desire to share our vision of a sustainable, eco-friendly environment with our customers.
Job Responsibilities- Server at Black Prong Whiskey Bar & Grill• Enter food orders into Point-of-Sale system, noting any special requests so all items are made correctly making sure to note any special requests or dietary restrictions, so all items are made correctly
• Explain menu items to customers with enthusiasm and descriptive language, and be knowledgeable about our ingredients so you can tell customers about our commitment to quality local food sources
• Offer suggestions for order substitutions for customers with allergies or other dietary restrictions
• Familiarize customers with the menu and make appropriate suggestions when requested
• Pick up orders from kitchen window and deliver them to tables
• Clear, clean, and set tables properly between uses
• Collect and process payment from customers in a timely manner
• Assist in training new employees as required
• Anticipate guests' needs to facilitate an enjoyable dining experience
Job Qualifications• Excellent customer service skills and the ability to exceed customer expectations
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
• Strong work ethic with a willingness to take initiative and work in a team environment
• Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including evenings and weekends
• Be of legal age to serve alcohol and have a food service and alcohol serve safe certificate
• Confident, outgoing demeanor with the ability to communicate clearly with fellow workers and guests
• Strong multitasking and organizational skills
• Good understanding of ingredients, recipes, kitchen safety and hygiene
• Able to follow instructions accurately and efficiently
• Able to perform well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Physically able to stand and move around for long periods of time
• Ability to work early mornings and weekends
• Previous food service experience is a plus
• Experience with restaurant Point-of-Sale systems
