Are you looking for an exciting summer opportunity to gain valuable skills and make a meaningful impact across Washington state's communities? Support Delta Dental of Washington as a Community Engagement Intern and gain hands-on experience in community engagement, partnership development, and program strategy. You’ll contribute to projects that strengthen community engagement programs and partnerships while developing key professional skills in a dynamic, collaborative environment.

This non-exempt internship pays an hourly rate of $28.00 and is full-time (40 hours per week). Interns are expected to work during our standard business hours, which are from 8 AM to 5 PM, Monday through Friday. Interns are typically required to work onsite at our Seattle office every Tuesday, with the option for remote work on other days based on departmental needs.

- Support community engagement efforts by developing a guide that outlines how community programs can be shared across other member companies.
- Develop a resource to support mentee career exploration by identifying dental professionals who are hiring and practices that offer job shadowing opportunities.
- Develop and document a workflow for the annual giving campaign planning process, including key events and engagement activities
- Support the organization and management of community engagement data within REDCap.
- Explore ways to measure and communicate the impact of community programs through data, insights, and reporting.
The experience, skills, and education needed to succeed in the position are outlined below. These requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.
- Currently pursuing an associates, bachelors, or master’s degree in in marketing, public policy, public health, communications, nonprofit management, sociology, or a related field with an interest in community engagement.
- Experience supporting community programs, student organizations, volunteer initiatives, or community-based activities.
- Interest in community programs, partnerships, and initiatives that support local communities.
- Displays a high level of accountability by effectively managing tasks independently, meeting goals, and delivering high-quality work while staying dedicated to team objectives.
- Ability to collect relevant information, assess data, and make thoughtful contributions to projects or problem-solving activities.
- Enthusiastic about collaborating with diverse teams, contributing to an inclusive environment, and seeking opportunities for growth and improvement within the internship and organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships across teams.
- Capable of working both independently and collaboratively in team settings.
