About This Position
Midwest Co-op is currently accepting resumes for the position of Marketing Specialist. Under the direction of the Corporate Services Manager, the Marketing Specialist supports the organization’s marketing and communications efforts by managing social media, producing branded materials, and maintaining the company’s digital presence. It provides marketing support across all divisions, oversees merchandise and promotional assets, and coordinates newsletters and corporate events. The position ensures consistent application of brand standards while strengthening the company’s visibility and engagement.
SUPERVISION AND LEADERSHIP
- Provides guidance and leadership to the management team in the areas of marketing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Manages social media platforms including Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn, and develops an active social media plan that supports division marketing goals.
- Designs and produces marketing materials using company software, stock images, and original photography.
- Creates branded promotional assets such as monthly retail flyers, posters, and digital content, ensuring alignment with company brand standards.
- Oversees the creation, sourcing, and ordering of company merchandise for events, staff use, and promotional campaigns.
- Ensures the company website remains complete, current, and regularly updated for accuracy and usability.
- Coordinates production of internal and external newsletters.
- Builds and maintains strong working relationships with external marketing contractors.
- Collaborates with internal divisions to provide marketing support, including form creation, printing, and mailing campaigns.
- Upholds company brand standards across all marketing materials, ensuring consistent visual identity in print, digital, merchandise, and event collateral.
- Coordinates and leads company events, including venue selection, catering, set‑up, and on‑site support for meetings, trade shows, the AGM, and other corporate functions.
- Promotes co‑operative education initiatives.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Follow the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) regulations for employees: use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing required by the employer; report any known workplace hazard to the employer or supervisor; report any known contravention of the Act or regulations to the employer or supervisor; not use or operate any equipment or work in a way that may endanger any worker.
- Participate in MCS training which includes, but not limited to, the mandatory Ministry of Labour course, MCS Health & Safety Standards and Policies, and Accessibility Policies (AODA).
- Understands and follows all Corporate, Legislative and Health & Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Represents MCS in a competent and professional manner. Maintains proper personal image and assigned company vehicle in a manner which promotes company image and sets example for the department. Represents MCS at meetings, providing information, communications, and leadership in local activities.
- Working as part of the MCS team, ensures that company objectives, customer service levels, employee relations and inter-branch relations are improved and promoted.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Preferably 3-5 years of marketing experience and/or relevant education.
- Effective oral and written communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to multi-task and maintain a positive, professional manner under all conditions.
- Proficient in Office 365, Canva, Adobe, and Social Media Platforms.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Operates mostly within a normal, environmentally controlled office environment.
- Sitting for long periods at a terminal or computer.
- Additional hours may be required at times.
- Some travel on and off-site work may be required.
