About the Role

EnsembleIQ is seeking a self-motivated, versatile Associate Editor to join our unified healthcare editorial team. This role is the creative and operational engine for CanadianHealthcareNetwork.ca, the premier interprofessional digital home for Pharmacy Practice + Business and The Medical Post.

While you will contribute to the broader healthcare landscape, your primary focus will be crafting high-impact journalism, news, and features specifically for Canada’s pharmacy professionals. You will be responsible for the end-to-end content lifecycle—from sourcing high-level practitioners and academics to packaging multimedia newsletters that drive engagement.

Key ResponsibilitiesContent Creation & Editorial Strategy
  • Journalism & Feature Writing: Produce high-quality news and features in a fast-paced environment, interviewing senior industry leaders and subject matter experts.
  • Pharmacy Focus: Develop a deep expertise in pharmacy industry trends and regulatory issues to provide actionable insights for our audience.
  • Content Management: Post, package, and present content across digital platforms, ensuring it is optimized for user benefit and SEO.
  • Multimedia Integration: Integrate audio, video, podcasts, and webinars into the site and newsletters to enhance the reader experience.
Relationship Management & Sourcing
  • Contributor Pipeline: Cultivate relationships with practitioners, academics, and researchers. You will encourage and manage op-ed and personal essay submissions from industry leaders from inception to publication.
  • Editorial Guidance: Provide clear, constructive feedback to freelance reporters and opinion writers on narrative structure and focus.
  • Brand Ambassadorship: Represent the publication at industry events, networking with stakeholders and recruiting potential bloggers or influencers.
Audience Engagement & Operations
  • Newsletter Deployment: Help plan and deploy targeted newsletters that maximize our wealth of content.
  • Analytics & Growth: Use Google Analytics to track KPIs, monitor content performance, and apply SEO best practices to amplify reach.
  • Social Media: Leverage platforms to drive brand awareness and engagement.
  • Quality Control: Proofread and edit staff and freelance work while adhering to copyright and privacy standards.
Requirements
  • Experience: 3+ years of professional experience in journalism, editorial, or strategic communications. Preference for Journalism graduates or those with experience in B2B/healthcare publishing.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong functional knowledge of the Canadian pharmacy sector and its regulatory environment is highly preferred. Alternatively, experience in highly regulated fields (Legal, Scientific Research, Business) is required.
  • Language Skills: Working knowledge of French (verbal and written) is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience with Content Management Systems (CMS), social media technologies, and various media formats (digital, print, audio/video).
  • Analytical Skills: Knowledge of Google Analytics and an ability to use data to improve audience engagement.
  • Soft Skills: A curious, confident and poised individual who is excited to be industry facing. A team player with the ability to work independently under pressure and push beyond the status quo.
  • Availability: Ability to attend physical events and occasionally work evenings/weekends for breaking news or special reports.
