About This Position

Part-time Clinical Dietitian — Sign on Bonus Available Benefit Package Available Munster Indiana location

POSITION PURPOSE AND SUMMARY

Provides nutritional care support to in-patients and physician-referred out-patients according to established guidelines and under immediate supervision of the Clinical Manager, Hospitality and Nutrition Services.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s (Master’s) degree from an accredited institution with a major in food and nutrition, in conjunction with The Commission on Accreditation for Dietetics Education approved program. Master’s degree required for new graduates beginning January 2024. Dietitian graduates prior to 2024 many have a Bachelor’s degree and are grandfathered in by The Commission on Dietetic Registration.
  • Registered with the Commission on Dietetic Registration preferred, but will accept registry eligible*.
  • Two years experience in dietetic and/or food service operations preferred.
  • Licensure with the State of Indiana or application for licensure within one month of registration.
  • Work involves a variety of problems in a general field; some of which are complex. Involves some independent judgment to decide what to do to assemble facts, determine variations from standard procedures, or plan other action to be taken to meet general objectives.
  • Requires general knowledge of computer applications.
  • May be exposed to infections and contagious diseases.
  • Employees may be shared and travel within the Health Care System. If applicable, must provide proof of current driver’s license and current auto insurance.
  • Requires frequent contacts with many persons at different levels inside the hospital and possession of interpersonal and communication skills to carry out hospital policies and programs and obtain willing acceptance, consent or action.
  • Interacts with all members of the healthcare team physicians, and families in a professional manner on a daily basis.
  • Requires general direction, while working from broad policies and on general objectives. Refers specific matters to supervisor when interpretation of hospital/department goals are necessary.

*Employee may take the registration exam three times. If after the third attempt the employee fails, they are terminated. Must be registered within one year of hire.
