WHO WE ARE
The Emberly at Heritage Glen is an assisted living and memory care community in Fort Worth — 90 apartments across assisted living and memory care. We are a team-first community. We take care of our people so our people can take care of our residents.
THE ROLE
Our Cook is not just preparing food — they are creating one of the most anticipated moments of a resident’s day. You will work under the direction of our Director of Dining Services to produce palatable, visually appealing, and nutritionally appropriate meals that honor resident preferences and physician diet orders.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
∙ Prepare and serve meals that are palatable, appetizing, and aligned with the posted menu and therapeutic diet orders
∙ Review menus prior to each service period to ensure accurate preparation
∙ Follow established recipes consistently; uphold portion control and presentation standards
∙ Maintain high standards of kitchen cleanliness, sanitation, and infection control
∙ Recognize and respond to dietary concerns; report observations to the supervisor promptly
∙ Assist in establishing a production line to ensure meals are served on time
∙ Complete required forms and temperature logs related to dietary procedures
∙ Monitor and report equipment disrepair or supply shortages
∙ Assist with scheduled cleaning duties including deep cleaning rotations
∙ Maintain confidentiality of resident information and community operations at all times
∙ Participate in ongoing education and training programs as assigned
∙ Support an atmosphere of warmth and genuine interest in resident wellbeing
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred. Coursework in quantity cooking or therapeutic diets is a plus.
Experience:
Minimum one year of dietary experience in a hospital, skilled nursing, assisted living, or related food service setting required. Three or more years of progressive kitchen experience preferred.
Skills:
∙ Strong communication and teamwork
∙ Ability to follow diet orders and recipe directions with accuracy
∙ Comfortable with routine and fast-paced service windows
∙ Basic numerical ability for recipe scaling and inventory
Physical Requirements:
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 lbs, stoop, bend, and reach frequently. Comfortable working around heat, steam, refrigeration, and cleaning agents.
Schedule:
Flexibility required including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
