Supervisor: Director, Information Services
Job: Full-time, nonexempt hourly, Union represented position
Pay Range: $20.54/hr

General Purpose:
Provide technical assistance and training to computer, audiovisual, and phone system users.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answer questions or resolve computer, printer, phone, AV or database problems for users.
- Set up new users with network, phone, voicemail, and database access; remove terminated employees.
- Provide computer and phone training to new users; develop training materials and procedures as appropriate.
- Set up computer equipment for employee use, performing or ensuring proper installation of hardware components, operating systems and appropriate software.
- Set up equipment for special events or employee use ensuring proper handling of equipment.
- Assist with developing queries and reports to extract information from existing databases when needed; test new programs to ensure accuracy.
- Assist with modifying existing databases and applications as appropriate.
- Read technical manuals and on-line sources, confer with users, and conduct computer or phone diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems.
- May act as liaison with outside vendors to resolve problems as requested by supervisor or as otherwise necessary.
- Assist in the management and maintenance of the local area network.
- Document technical settings and procedures to ensure continuity of information.
- A non-traditional work week including a weekend schedule is required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience Preferred:
Any one of the following:
- Associate Degree in computer support or similar, or
- A+ Certification plus 2 years tech support experience, or
- 3 years tech support experience
Specialized Knowledge and Skills:
- General knowledge of computer hardware and software.
- Ability to diagnose computer and phone problems and resolve.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with video playback and recording devices, video projectors and audio equipment a plus.
- Knowledge of databases, SQL programming, and report services
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- General office environment with some lifting up to 30 pounds.
- May need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl occasionally.
- Position may be stressful at times.

Excellent interpersonal skills, systematic, meticulous, patient, self-starter and works well under pressure. Manages time efficiently, analyze and solve problems independently and if necessary, collaboratively. Ability to be flexible and embrace changes within this position due to departmental priorities. Ability to work with a wide variety of people to achieve the goals of the Museum.
