About the Role

The Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing, auditing, and balancing payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. This role requires independent judgment and initiative to manage complex payroll data, address inquiries, and maintain payroll systems and reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process, audit, and balance payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees, applying independent judgment.
  • Analyze, reconcile, and audit complex payroll-related data, accounts, and reports.
  • Interface payroll files from benefit vendors and handle month-end and quarter-end payroll journal entries.
  • Address employee inquiries and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Improve payroll processes and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including tax obligations, retirement contributions, and labor laws.
  • Prepare and distribute payroll reports such as paychecks, W-2s, T2200s, and other required employee or regulatory documentation.
  • Maintain and enhance payroll systems to ensure efficiency and regulatory alignment.
  • Liaise with auditors during payroll tax audits and maintain accurate, well-organized payroll records.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred or combination of education and experience
  • Experience processing payroll for U.S. and Canadian employees.
  • 4+ years of payroll experience
  • Ability to audit, reconcile, and analyze complex payroll data.
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax requirements, and labor laws in the U.S. and Canada.
  • Technology/Equipment- Proficiency with MS office products.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

Professional office setting with in-office work required Monday through Thursday each week with Friday serving as a remote-work day for focused work, evaluation of data and delivery on project tasks to meet established deadlines or fulfill functional work cadence.

The base pay range for this position is $80,000- $100,000. GC America reserves the right to amend, change, alter, and revise pay ranges and benefits offerings at any time.
