Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Medical Director, and in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Agency, the Nurse Practitioner is responsible for rendering direct clinical psychiatric services to clients and assisting other clinicians, as necessary.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

CLINICAL: Provides clinical diagnosis and evaluations to clients and monitors client adherence through follow up appointments in-person and via telehealth/telephone to meet agency service needs and contracts. Provides in-person, telephone, or telehealth consultation to outside providers. Assists in diagnosis and evaluation either through direct examination, staff conference, or review of clinical material from other clinicians of the agency. Evaluates risk levels. Monitors all assigned cases to ensure quality of services and conformity to medical standards and regulations. Participates in PMT staff/peer review meetings, clinical staff meetings as assigned, providing guidance and expert opinion. Participates in on-call coverage, as assigned.

LIAISON: Participates in consultation and education programs. As requested, provides education programs. Serves as a member of selected clinical teams or committees.

RECORDKEEPING: Prepares reports of assessments and treatments accurately, concisely, and in a timely manner (per agency standards). Maintains accurate psychiatric history on each assigned client. Completes notes and billing records in a timely manner (per agency standards).

AGENCY COLLABORATION: Collaborates with other professional staff and programs in the community, respecting confidentiality. Provides clinical and educational oversight to students, as assigned.

SUPERVISION: Participates in weekly clinical supervision with the Medical Director.

PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS: Maintains active license and meets all necessary continuing education requirements of their license.

*In addition to the above, performs other duties as assigned.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate of an approved nursing program specializing in psychiatric nursing or equivalent experience, DEA, APRN, ARNP RN-CS, ANA, PMHNP (or equivalent) Certified.
  • Must be licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Vermont.
  • Experience working with individuals with psychiatric disabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with clients and with staff/colleagues.
  • No issues of malpractice that are unresolved.
