American Flexible Products maintains ITAR-compliant operations. Due to ITAR regulations, this role is only open to U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents (green card holders) or foreign nationals granted refugee or asylee status. Individuals with temporary visas (e.g. E, F-1, H-1, H-2, L, B, J, TN or OPT) are not eligible for hire in this role.

Our manufacturing & facility maintenance technician installs, repairs, and maintains equipment, facility and property. They will perform both preventive and corrective maintenance to ensure equipment runs smoothly and safely. Key responsibilities include troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues, fabricating parts, conducting safety checks, and keeping detailed maintenance records. This role requires a diverse skill set, including knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, schematics, and various hand and power tools. This role will require critical thinking in both planning and getting project bids.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on production equipment, facility systems, and building infrastructure to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests, troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic issues to restore equipment functionality quickly and safely.
  • Conduct facility and equipment inspections, identifying potential hazards, wear, or failures and recommending corrective actions.
  • Install, repair, and maintain machinery, tools, fixtures, and facility components including lighting, HVAC units, electrical panels, and mechanical systems. Working with vendors as needed.
  • Fabricate or modify parts as needed using hand tools, power tools, welding, or machining equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation including maintenance logs, work orders, inspection forms, inventory records, and equipment history files.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating facility projects, including gathering contractor bids, evaluating proposals, and helping schedule work.
  • Ensure work areas remain clean, safe, and compliant with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and leadership teams to communicate equipment status, downtime impact, and recommended process improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance equipment reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • Perform similar or related duties as needed to support facility operations and team requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work overtime as needed, including occasional off‑hours or weekend work for urgent repairs or scheduled maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands‑on experience in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems, schematics, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple assignments, and adapt to changing demands.
  • Reliable, safety‑minded, and detail‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., stand for extended periods, and work in a manufacturing environment with noise, fumes, and moving machinery.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred for occasional off‑site errands or vendor coordination.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Educational High School Diploma/GED Required
  • 2–6 years of experience in a manufacturing, maintenance, or mechanical repair environment preferred.
  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, facility upkeep, or industrial equipment repair is highly beneficial.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Proficiency with a computer is a must. Microsoft office suite is required. Epicor or any ERP system experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must be able to communicate (read, write, and speak) fluently in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must have the ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, kneel, and work in and around machinery or facility systems.
  • Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 lbs. on a routine basis.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle tools, operate equipment, and perform detailed repair tasks.
  • Ability to safely work from ladders, elevated platforms, or confined spaces as required.
  • Must have adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to read schematics, work instructions, and identify mechanical/electrical components.
  • Good hand/eye coordination is essential.
  • Ability to work extended periods on your feet and tolerate varying physical tasks throughout the shift.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This is onsite and not eligible to work remotely.

  • This role is performed primarily in a production environment, which may include exposure to noise, fumes, dust, moving mechanical equipment, and occasional non‑climate‑controlled areas.
  • Noise levels are generally moderate, but hearing protection may be required during certain tasks.
  • Work may involve exposure to cleaning agents, lubricants, chemicals, or other materials used in equipment maintenance (PPE provided as required).
  • Tasks may require working indoors and outdoors depending on facility needs, weather conditions, or project requirements.
  • Must attend all trainings, follow all company safety rules, lock‑out/tag‑out procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
  • Work environment may involve periodic interruptions, urgent repair needs, or shifting priorities based on production schedules.

Schedule will be weekdays, Monday through Friday 8 hours per day.
