Description
Duties and Responsibilities
Primary
- Maintains an atmosphere of enthusiasm
- Comprehends and ensures compliance with company SQF policies pertaining to the dock area (GMPs, Allergen Storage, etc)
- Shows and provides proper training on all equipment and functions. Assist workers in practicing clean, safe
and sanitary procedures in the work area and with all equipment - Trains and encourages all workers to progress to the highest level of competence and accuracy.
- Drives box truck for deliveries as needed.
- Monitors and evaluates safe work practices, including forklift safety and safe lifting techniques, of each employee daily.
- Monitors and maintains housekeeping within the dock area to ensure safety and productivity.
- Communicate any equipment malfunction/issues with the maintenance department.
- Works with the Production Manager to adjust the shipping schedules based on business needs and communicates to affected employees.
- Monitor and conduct truck inspections to ensure compliance with company policies.
- Monitor and inspect trailers throughout the day for cleanliness and to ensure correct loading practices are in place.
- Assists with recall processes to ensure timely response.
- Assists in scheduling outgoing shipments.
- Ensures that 100% of trailers are loaded correctly to ensure safe transport.
- Monitor computer/internal inventory control systems to stage product according to PO’s.
- Processes all documentation on time as required
- Provide analyses, suggestions, and ideas for the improvement of operations within the dock area and facility.
- Works assigned shifts as needed, must be available to work depending upon customer pick-up and delivery schedules.
- Monitor storage practices to comply with FIFO practices.
- Responsible for leading Shipping employees and drivers, including directing and redirecting tasks, and works with the Production Manager and Human Resources on corrective actions for the team.
- Perform other duties as assigned or needed.
Ability to:
- Perform in a friendly, courteous, tactful way and maintain composure in dealing with others.
- Visually inspect products.
- Lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Stand for long periods of time, walk, move rapidly, bend, stoop, twist, and turn frequently.
- Receive training and operate electric pallet jack and forklift as required.
- Push and pull approximately 2500 lb. pallets with electric or manual pallet jack
- Perform basic math (add, subtract, divide, and multiply) and compute weights and measures.
- Proficient with MS Office and spreadsheets.
- Perform duties with mental alertness involving potential hazards with respect to baking
procedures, equipment, and work aides. - Follow Standard Operation Procedures (SOPs).
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).
- Perform primary duties with efficiency and accuracy.
- Wear hats, hairnets, gloves, and other personal protective equipment as required.
- Pass certification as box truck driver and drive as needed
- Must be at least 18 years of age
