Job Description

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical and controls design for critical expansion and maintenance capital projects. Working with a leading energy firm, you will act as a technical lead and owner’s representative, managing third-party engineering firms to ensure that complex facility designs—including large-scale compressor and metering stations—are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Oversight: Manage the execution of design deliverables by third-party engineering firms, ensuring strict compliance with company specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (NEC).

  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on the design of high-horsepower (10,000 to 30,000 HP) turbine and motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations and industrial systems in hazardous classified areas.

  • Design Review & Approval: Review and approve technical drawings, reports, material listing sheets, and vendor quotations for technical merit.

  • Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee the development of project scopes, schedules, capital cost estimates, and execution plans.

  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact between Project Management, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure project requirements are integrated into the final design.

  • Commissioning Support: Provide essential technical support during the construction and commissioning phases to ensure a seamless transition to operations.

  • Mentorship: Provide informal leadership and technical guidance to junior engineers and peers within the Facilities Engineering group.

Professional RequirementsMust-Haves
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering and project management.

  • Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with power systems (120V through 4160V), grounding, and cathodic protection.

  • Control Systems: General familiarity with PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley), motor control circuits, and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).

  • Instrumentation: Understanding of smart/analog transmitters, RTDs, thermocouples, and flame/gas detection systems.

  • Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading project teams or managing third-party engineering consultants.

Nice-to-Haves
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation.

  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in Oil & Gas, though similar heavy industrial or power generation experience is highly valued.

  • Software: Knowledge of Wonderware or equivalent operator interfaces.

Why Apply

You will join a dedicated Facilities Engineering team during a period of significant growth, taking ownership of high-visibility projects that have a direct financial and operational impact on the organization. This role offers the perfect balance for a senior professional who enjoys the "big picture" of project management while maintaining a strong pulse on technical engineering excellence.
