Job Description
This is a high-impact opportunity for a Senior Electrical Engineer to oversee the electrical and controls design for critical expansion and maintenance capital projects. Working with a leading energy firm, you will act as a technical lead and owner’s representative, managing third-party engineering firms to ensure that complex facility designs—including large-scale compressor and metering stations—are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key ResponsibilitiesProject Oversight: Manage the execution of design deliverables by third-party engineering firms, ensuring strict compliance with company specifications, regulatory requirements, and industry standards (NEC).
Technical Leadership: Provide guidance on the design of high-horsepower (10,000 to 30,000 HP) turbine and motor-driven centrifugal compressor stations and industrial systems in hazardous classified areas.
Design Review & Approval: Review and approve technical drawings, reports, material listing sheets, and vendor quotations for technical merit.
Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee the development of project scopes, schedules, capital cost estimates, and execution plans.
Cross-Functional Liaison: Serve as the primary technical contact between Project Management, Operations, and Shared Services to ensure project requirements are integrated into the final design.
Commissioning Support: Provide essential technical support during the construction and commissioning phases to ensure a seamless transition to operations.
Mentorship: Provide informal leadership and technical guidance to junior engineers and peers within the Facilities Engineering group.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in electrical engineering and project management.
Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with power systems (120V through 4160V), grounding, and cathodic protection.
Control Systems: General familiarity with PLC-based control systems (e.g., Allen-Bradley), motor control circuits, and Emergency Shutdown Systems (ESD).
Instrumentation: Understanding of smart/analog transmitters, RTDs, thermocouples, and flame/gas detection systems.
Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading project teams or managing third-party engineering consultants.
Professional Engineer (P.E.) designation.
Industry Experience: Prior experience in Oil & Gas, though similar heavy industrial or power generation experience is highly valued.
Software: Knowledge of Wonderware or equivalent operator interfaces.
