This role offers an exciting entry point into Quality Engineering within a fast-paced, mission-driven software environment supporting the life sciences industry. You will contribute to the testing and validation of cloud-based applications used by pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and medical device organizations. Working in an Agile team, you will collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and QA engineers to ensure high-quality software releases. The role combines manual and automated testing, giving you exposure to modern QA practices and tools. You will help improve product reliability by identifying issues early and supporting continuous delivery cycles. With structured onboarding and mentorship, this position is designed to help you grow your technical and analytical skills. - Create and maintain QA documentation including test plans, test cases, test scripts, and detailed bug reports to assess product quality and risk.
- Execute functional and regression testing while ensuring software meets defined quality standards within release timelines.
- Collaborate with automation engineers to develop and expand automated test coverage for improved regression efficiency.
- Triage test and automation results, helping identify, reproduce, and document issues effectively.
- Work closely with cross-functional Agile teams including software engineers and product managers to ensure smooth release cycles.
- Develop strong product expertise to better evaluate functionality and user experience.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of QA processes and testing methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Applications, or a related field.
- Experience or exposure to software development and/or software testing (including through academic projects or early career roles).
- Basic coding knowledge in Java and/or mobile programming languages.
- Understanding of QA methodologies such as black-box testing, functional testing, and automated testing in short-release-cycle environments.
- Strong curiosity and ability to quickly learn new tools, frameworks, and technologies.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration in distributed Agile teams.
- Nice to have: familiarity with Cypress, SQL, Java, Python, Appium, XCUI, Espresso, KIF, or mobile development (Android/iOS), as well as Atlassian tools like Jira or Greenhopper.
- Competitive base salary ranging from $55,000 to $95,000 CAD, depending on experience and location.
