Areas of responsibility for the Supply Assistant include:
DISTRIBUTION: Drives a medium and heavy-duty cargo style delivery van and loads vans in an organized and secured manner to limit missed deliveries and damage. Delivers and picks up interoffice mail, equipment, and supplies, including items requiring special handling, for all District fire stations and facilities. Performs special pick-ups and deliveries supporting special projects--e.g., academies, and large volume equipment change out and movements. Picks up and delivers supplies and equipment from local vendors as needed. Processes returns, exchanges and credits of supplies and equipment according to department procedures.
ORDER PREPARATION: Prints, sorts and prioritizes customer requests submitted through the Districts enterprise resource planning (ERP) system. Picks, prepares and boxes orders for distribution. Inquires when orders fall outside District norms and standards. Performs spot checks and audits of inventory quantity on hand. Identifies potential causes of variances and escalates to Inventory Control Specialist as warranted.
DISPOSAL: Provides pickup and delivery service of biohazard waste for disposal ensuring safe-handling guidelines are observed. Arranges disposal drop-off with contracted facility. Stages and moves items deemed as surplus in preparation for sale or donation per District policy.
CUSTOMER SERVICE: Assists customers (internal and other agencies) by phone, email and in person in order to provide products, service or information.
EQUIPMENT REPAIR AND MAINTENANCE: Performs basic monthly maintenance checks, as required by District policy, on Supply Department vehicles and forklift and submits service requests as needed. Maintains Supply vans to be clean and organized.
OUTBOUND SHIPMENTS: Packages and prepares goods for pickup by commercial delivery service and local vendors for return to factories or vendors.

The education and experience minimum requirements below are those typically required for performing the job functions (unless specifically noted to be preferred). Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Education:- High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience:
- One year of experience with warehouse functions and procedures including using inventory control software to maintain, search for, and adjust inventory.
- Inventory processing knowledge and experience preferred.
- Experience preparing, loading and driving medium and heavy-duty cargo style delivery vans preferred.

COMPENSATION:The monthly salary range for this position is $4,425 - $5,984 per month. The pay for this position starts at $4,425 per month. This position is represented by Local 1660.
