From our beginning in 1964, Lift-All Company has grown to be the biggest and most well-known manufacturer of slings for overhead lifting and load securement products in North America. Our products are sold through industrial distributors and contractor supply houses in the US and abroad.

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Plant Manager for our manufacturing plant located at 1909 McFarland Ave, Landisville PA 17538.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for performance of all manufacturing, material handling and quality control processes.
  • Manage, monitor and improve the productivity of 40+ employees on multiple shifts (Sunday night through Saturday morning) to achieve efficiency goals.
  • Lead plant safety program and reinforce a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and develop Group Leaders and subordinates to form a top tier team dedicated to achieving plant and company goals.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 or more years’ experience leadership role in manufacturing environment.
  • Degree in Business, Operations or Engineering from a 4-year university, or equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of ERP, MRP, in a manufacturing environment a plus.
  • ISO or Lean implementation experience a plus.
  • Ability to speak Spanish a plus.

SUMMARY

Assist Plant Manager in operations of plant with primary responsibility for employee safety, production, quality control, material handling and human resource management of hourly personnel.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Responsible for all aspects of plant operations including production management, staffing, labor allocation and quality control to ensure that customer’s needs are met on a daily basis.

2. Ensures employees are properly trained to safely perform their job duties ensuring compliance with company safety program and procedures including OSHA, insurance guidelines and local regulations. Conducts monthly safety meetings and safety training and maintains proper documentation.

3. Conducts production meetings with group leaders to assure plant efficiency goals are met, adherence to shipping schedules, identification of materials and equipment issues, and best deployment of plant personnel.

4. Assists the Plant Manager in driving a culture of continuous improvement. This includes performing Gemba walks, studying current manufacturing processes and plant layout using LEAN principles, and recommending specific improvements to the Plant Manager.

5. Manages hourly personnel including hiring, scheduling, training, performance management, discipline and recommendations for promotion and termination.

6. Responsible for efficient storage and timely movement of materials throughout the plant.

7. Oversees equipment maintenance activities to ensure equipment functions at optimum levels and service is up to date.

8. Maintains human resource files for plant employees. Resolves employee relations issues regarding policies and procedures as appropriate.

9. Performs other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages subordinate group leaders who provide work instruction to various employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of plant personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and 3 to 5 years related experience and/or training. Three years or related work experience equates to one year of formal accredited education.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Ability to write, reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees or managers and/or customers.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate when working in the office and elevated when working in the plant. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts. Use of PPEs are required when working the plant.
