Director of Development – Nonprofit Fundraising Leadership Role

📍 Portsmouth & Somersworth, NH | Full-Time | Exempt
💵 Salary Range: $83,500 – $96,533 DOE

Greater Seacoast Community Health (GSCH) is seeking an experienced development and fundraising professional to lead donor engagement, philanthropic strategy, and community fundraising efforts across our nonprofit healthcare organization.

This is a senior-level nonprofit fundraising position.

We are specifically seeking candidates with a proven background in:

    nonprofit fundraising leadership major donor cultivation donor stewardship development strategy philanthropic relationship management

Candidates must have direct nonprofit fundraising/development experience in order to be considered.

What Is This Role Responsible For

The Director of Development leads GSCH’s fundraising and donor relations strategy and is responsible for helping secure philanthropic support that sustains healthcare programs and services across our community health network.

This position works closely with executive leadership, donors, foundations, community partners, and the Board to grow fundraising efforts and strengthen long-term donor relationships.

Key responsibilities include:

    Leading all fundraising and development initiatives including major gifts, annual giving, sponsorships, donor stewardship, and fundraising campaigns Developing and executing strategic fundraising plans and revenue goals Cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major donors and community partners Managing donor pipelines, donor communications, and fundraising activities Utilizing donor management software (Raiser’s Edge NXT or equivalent CRM platforms) Representing GSCH at networking events, donor meetings, and community functions Collaborating with executive leadership on fundraising strategy and organizational growth Monitoring fundraising performance, donor trends, and development metrics

Minimum Qualifications (Required for Consideration)

Applicants must meet the following minimum qualifications:

    Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, nonprofit management, marketing, or related field Minimum of 5 years of direct nonprofit fundraising/development experience Demonstrated success managing fundraising campaigns, donor cultivation, and major gifts Experience working with donor databases/CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge or similar platforms Strong public speaking, networking, relationship-building, and communication skills Experience working with executive leadership, community stakeholders, donors, or boards Ability to independently manage fundraising initiatives and donor relationships

Preferred Qualifications

    Experience working in nonprofit healthcare, community health, human services, or mission-driven organizations Experience with planned giving, grant development, or capital campaigns Familiarity working within Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs) or healthcare nonprofits Experience engaging community partners, foundations, and corporate sponsors
