About the Role:
The Summer Program runs from June 29-August 21, 2026. The Lead Counselor is responsible for planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate summer curriculum for children ages 3-5 years old. This role includes creating engaging activities, supervising children, and ensuring a safe, nurturing, and fun learning environment
Minimum Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in a camp or youth leadership role.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with children and teenagers in a group setting.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR or willingness to obtain prior to camp start.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with young children in a teaching or child care setting.
- Strong leadership, communication, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to create a fun and engaging learning environment.
- Must pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and implement age-appropriate lessons and activities, including arts, crafts, outdoor play, and early learning experiences.
- Supervise and manage the classroom environment to ensure safety and positive behavior.
- Provide guidance and support to the Teacher Assistant to ensure a smooth daily routine.
- Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's progress and daily activities.
- Ensure compliance with state licensing regulations and program policies.
- Foster social-emotional development through positive interactions and structured activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment.
Skills:
The Lead Camp Counselor utilizes strong leadership skills daily to guide campers, ensuring activities are conducted safely and enjoyably. Effective communication is essential for coordinating with camp management, resolving conflicts, and providing clear instructions to campers. Problem-solving skills are frequently applied to address unexpected challenges and maintain a positive camp atmosphere. Organizational skills help in managing schedules, resources, and multiple activities simultaneously. Additionally, empathy and interpersonal skills are critical for building trust and fostering an inclusive environment where every camper feels valued and supported.
