Educational and Career Readiness Programming
• Develop and deliver college readiness, career exploration, career-connected learning, and workforce preparation activities aligned with the School of Education’s priorities related to student success and regional workforce needs.
• Design programs that address systemic barriers and promote equitable outcomes for underserved populations.
• Integrate evidence-based practices in college readiness, adult education, career development, and transition support.
Program Leadership and Operations
• Coordinate program implementation across multiple sites and populations, aligning activities with approved scopes of work and funder expectations.
• Support grant renewal and sustainability planning through outcome documentation and impact narratives.
Partnerships, Community Engagement, and Regional Impact
• Cultivate and sustain partnerships with K-12 districts, community colleges, community-based organizations, employers, and workforce development agencies.
• Serve as a liaison between the School of Education and external partners to strengthen pathways, pipelines, and cross-sector collaboration (e.g., P-20 related technical assistance for institutions, community college transfer student wraparound services, youth college and career readiness programming, etc.).
Assessment, Data, and Continuous Improvement
• Implement assessment and evaluation strategies aligned with programming objectives.
• Track participation, outcomes, and benchmarks; prepare reports for funders, and School leadership, stakeholders.
• Use quantitative and qualitative data to support program improvement, learning, and impact reporting.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Higher Education, Counseling, Workforce Development, Public Policy.
- 3+ years managing educational, career readiness, or transition programs; grant-funded experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth/adult learners across educational & career pathways.
- Background in student success and lifelong learning through readiness and transition programming.
- Experience serving diverse populations & coordinating complex initiatives.
- Strong project management, organizational, & communication skills.
- Knowledge of program design, evidence-based practice, and program evaluation.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Education, Higher Education, Counseling, Workforce Development, Public Policy.
- Experience working within a School of Education, higher education institution, or research-practice partnership.
- Familiarity with federal, state, or foundation-funded initiatives.
- Experience collaborating with K-12, postsecondary, and workforce systems.
- Knowledge of regional workforce development priorities.
Performs all administrative and operational functions of a program. Coordinates all program events and personnel and provides services directly to customers. Develops and implements program policies and procedures. Performs budgetary functions and oversees media communications, website updates, and newsletters.
Essential Functions
The University of Pittsburgh School of Education seeks a Manager of Educational and Career Readiness to lead grant-funded initiatives that support youth and adult learners’ transitions to postsecondary education and the workforce. Reporting to the Director of Educational Enrichment and Transition Programs, this position advances the school’s priorities by promoting student success, community engagement, and regional impact.
The Manager will oversee the day-to-day program operations, collaborate with school, community, and workforce partners, and ensure alignment with grant objectives, timelines, and reporting requirements. Responsibilities include program development and coordination, and continuous improvement of educational and career readiness programs that support learners at critical transition points from secondary education to postsecondary study, credential completion, and meaningful employment. This individual will partner closely with community organizations, community colleges, school districts, and workforce stakeholders in our efforts to deliver high-impact, data-informed programming aligned with grant objectives, and School of Education priorities.
This is a full-time, grant-funded position, hybrid position with 20% travel that is renewable contingent upon funding and performance.
Physical Effort
Mostly sedentary computer/office work, some travel across regional partner sites, must be able to get to various offices across campus when needed. Minimal lifting, pushing, and pulling.
